Croatian born Damir Doma spent his youth in southern Germany where his mother owned and operated a clothing atelier. This childhood exposure to the art of tailoring developed into a steadfast desire to study fashion as an adult in Munich and Berlin. After graduating in 2004 he began to work for Ann Demuelemeester and later Raf Simons. He debuted his eponymous collection at Paris fashion week in June of 2007 and received accolades from the high-fashion community. Damir’s collections are unique insofar as they bear no vestige of formal masculine elements; instead he sublates our post-industrial cultural concepts of masculinity by creating clothing that makes no specific cultural references and accentuates individuality by neither obscuring nor obstructing the wearer’s natural silhouette.
